Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson recently revealed his cancer diagnosis through a Season 5 episode of his Amazon Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm. In a new interview, he has now shared an update on his health.
Jeremy Clarkson says his cancer is in remission
In his interview with The Sunday Times, Jeremy Clarkson revealed that his cancer is in remission. The ex-Top Gear host confirmed that he underwent follow-up testing two months ago. However, there were no signs of cancer, and now he is in remission. “I am without a doubt, officially, the world’s luckiest man,” he said. The 66-year-old called it “an aggressive type of cancer.” He added, “It could have spread, it could have gone into the pancreas, it could have gone anywhere, and that would have been trouble.”
Clarkson also said that he is now having regular blood tests to monitor his health. Moreover, he knows that there is a 40% chance of recurrence of the disease. “I try to be positive. I’ve decided to be one of the 60% who doesn’t have a recurrence,” he joked. Clarkson also advised other men to get tested. “If there’s just one person, a single person in the world, who watches Clarkson’s Farm and thinks, you know what, I’m gonna get myself checked, and discovers it early, and it’s treated, and they lead a normal life, then it’s worth being an illness bore,” he said.
The television presenter was diagnosed with cancer following a routine check-up. “This is why I have to say to everybody who’s reading this, please, please, please go and get checked,” he said. Clarkson added, “It’s not uncomfortable, it’s not undignified. And it’s a no-brainer. I did, and that’s why I’m sitting here talking to you 11 months down the line.”
In a video on Instagram, Clarkson gave another positive health update, stating, “The reason why I’m fine is because the doctors caught the prostate cancer early, and they caught it early because I got tested.”
