Dustin Nolan reveals he’s leaving the news industry on-air
During the morning broadcast, Nolan became emotional on-air as he shared his decision to leave KWQC 6 and the news industry. “Today is my last day here at KWQC 6. I have chosen to step away from the news industry,” he stated.
Reflecting on how much he valued the job, Nolan added, “Before I say goodbye, I just want to say, I hope every one of you who that’s allowed me to be part of your mornings know just how important that I have taken this job, how much it means to me that you have trusted me these past few years to bring you the news in the morning. I promise you I’ve given you everything I have. I’ve never tried to be perfect or what many think a newsman is supposed to be.”
The anchor further stated that he has always tried to maintain transparency, present the truth, and remain his authentic self. “But I’ve always done my best to be transparent, bring you the facts, and I’ve always been myself. I’ve loved being able to provide a public service to this place we all call home, the Quad Cities,” he added.
Nolan went on to say that, as a reporter, he always wanted to shed light on issues that mattered and firmly believed the station owed its audience genuine coverage. He encouraged KWQC 6 to look beyond “trends” and “sanitized news.” The 41-year-old added that it’s important to bring people out of their comfort zones and make them aware of the realities they all live in.
As he bid farewell, he looked forward to the next chapter of his journey. Nolan also paid tribute to his co-anchor wife, Jenna Jackson, praising her talent and thanking her for being the “greatest co-anchor in life as well.” Nolan has been a part of KWQC 6 since 2022.
