DC’s Clayface Movie Runtime Possibly Revealed, It’s Much Shorter Than Joker

The possible runtime for the upcoming DCU movie Clayface has reportedly been revealed. A new rumor suggests that it’s shorter than another DC feature, Joker. Premiering in theaters later this year, the movie will be distinct from most movies in the comic book film genre due to its focus on grittier subject matter.

Clayface runtime rumored to be less than two hours

Clayface will reportedly run for less than two hours, according to a new rumor. This comes from notable scooper Cryptic HD Quality, who wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Clayface is approximately 1 hour 50 mins currently.” However, this information doesn’t come from official sources.

While unofficial, this runtime is shorter than that of Joker, which ran for 2 hours and 2 minutes, as per Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, the 2024 sequel, Folie à Deux, had a comparatively longer runtime of 2 hours and 18 minutes.

The leaker also shared other rumored details about the movie. They alleged that a test screening recently took place and that audiences loved it. Furthermore, the insider compared it to Joker, while also claiming that the film included references to Vanilla Sky, Substance, and Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk.

Clayface will be released in theaters on October 23, in time for the Halloween season. It is part of the DCU’s first lineup of films and TV shows, titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The film will mark the live-action debut of the eponymous protagonist in the DCU. However, it will be his second appearance overall, as the character earlier debuted in animated form in Creature Commandos.

Directed by James Watkins, it will follow the title character’s tragic backstory, exploring his initial fame as a rising actor before his disfigurement by a gangster.

“‘Clayface’ unravels one man’s horrifying descent from rising Hollywood star to revenge-filled monster in a story that explores the loss of one’s identity and humanity, corrosive love, and the dark underbelly of scientific ambition,” the official synopsis reads.

Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini co-wrote the script. Meanwhile, Tom Rhys Harries plays the title character. He leads a supporting cast that includes Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll, and Joshua James.

James Gunn and Peter Safran co-produced for DC Studios. Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris also produced via 6th & Idaho Motion Picture Company.
