Experts say Prince William continues to embrace a risky pastime
Prince William’s love for riding motorcycles could be risky, according to experts. William is said to be passionate about motorcycling, a concern that has reportedly been highlighted by royal commentators.
Christopher Andersen, author of “Kate!”, told Fox News Digital that Kate Middleton has tried repeatedly to convince William to give up riding motorcycles. He said, “Kate’s inability to get her husband to give up an activity he loves is something most married couples can definitely relate to—whether it’s smoking, drinking, skydiving, whatever.” Anderson added, “On the other hand, William’s situation is unique. He is a future head of state. So if he is injured or worse in a motorcycle accident, far more than just his family is impacted.”
According to Andersen, William is fascinated by motorcycles because they give him a sense of anonymity. It also allows him to connect with other bikers on a more personal level.
He said, “He has always gotten a tremendous kick out of pulling up alongside cars at intersections and, while waiting for the light to change, looking over at the other drivers.” He further added that William enjoys it when people treat him normally, without knowing who is beneath the helmet.
However, his love for motorcycles has long been described as “terrifying” for the Princess of Wales. Royal expert Hilary Fordwich also noted that Middleton holds significant influence, but has still not been able to “squash her husband’s passion for motorcycling.” Fordwich added, “Obviously, like many marriages Prince William listens to his wife and her loving concerns yet yielding fully is a bridge too far, rendering them even more relatable as a regular couple at least in this regard.”
