Malia and Sasha Obama make rare appearance during grand opening

Malia and Sasha Obama made a rare appearance during the Obama Presidential Center opening. The sisters have preferred to keep their lives away from the limelight, only appearing occasionally on their parents’ social media accounts.

At the time Obama was elected as the 44th president of the U.S., Malia and Sasha were aged 10 and 7, respectively. Since the family’s term ended at the White House in 2017, the daughters have appeared in a few major outings alongside their parents. For instance, Sasha, along with Barack and Michelle, attended the NBA All-Star Game in Inglewood, California, in February.

Additionally, Michelle honored both of her daughters’ presence at the ceremony. She said, “To our daughters, Malia and Sasha, who will always be my babies. Even though we’re no longer playing hide and seek on the South Lawn with Bo, or hosting sleepovers in the solarium … You both have grown into such brilliant and beautiful young women, making your way out there in the world.” She thanked them for bringing joy and spirits into their lives. She also expressed her gratitude to her daughters for making them proud every time (via TODAY).

Malia graduated from Harvard University in 2021 and has showcased interest in a film career. She made her short-film directorial debut on The Heart. She also collaborated with  Donald Glover as a writer for the dark comedy series Swarm. On the other hand, Sasha initially attended the University of Michigan and then graduated in sociology from the University of Southern California. She is now building a life in Los Angeles.
