Jennifer Lopez reflects on the health scare she experienced
During a conversation on the SmartLess podcast, Lopez reflected on how working every day once led to severe exhaustion. She explained, “When I was doing Enough, I think I had done like four movies in a row, and I had recorded my second album or something like that, so the JLo album, which was really big. And I was working, filming every day, as you guys know what that is, you know, all the hours.”
JLo stated that she was also occupied at night and on weekends, as she had to do junkets and video shoots. She revealed being so engrossed in work that she almost forgot she had gone 98 straight days without taking even a single day off to rest.
However, the realization struck her on the set of Enough. She walked in and started feeling a rising sense of “pitter-patter in [her] heart.” “And finally, it got to the point I was like, I really feel nervous, and I had the little girl in Enough. And I was like, ‘I’m sorry, sweetie, I feel a little weird today.’ I said, ‘I’m a little tired or something,’ and she was like, ‘It’s okay, you’re going to be alright’… but I wasn’t alright,” she added.
The “On the Floor” singer revealed that she went back to her trailer and sat down when she suddenly and briefly lost her sight. “I went back to the trailer, and I sat down, and all of a sudden, like, I just couldn’t see. Like, it was almost like I couldn’t see clearly, like something just went over my eyes, and I couldn’t move,” she revealed.
Then, Lopez called her assistant, who has also been her friend since childhood, to let her know about her condition. Lopez recalled that her friend initially told her to stop scaring her, but the singer reiterated that she was having trouble moving and asked her to call for help.
“We went to the hospital. And I said to the doctor, I said, ‘Am I going crazy?’ And he said, ‘No. You’re not crazy,'” the actress elaborated. The doctor told her that her body had temporarily “shut down” due to extreme exhaustion.
