The Beatles: Sam Mendes’ 4 Movies Cast Sonic the Hedgehog Star

Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-part Beatles biopic adds a Sonic the Hedgehog star. All four movies are currently in production in the U.K.

Who has joined the cast of The Beatles movies?

Ben Schwartz, best known for voicing the lead in the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, has joined the cast of The Beatles movies (via Variety). The report reveals Schwartz will play Murray the K, the New York disc jockey with whom The Beatles struck a friendship in the 1960s. Consequently, Murray the K dubbed himself the “fifth Beatle”, although the mantle was also reserved for Harry Lloyd’s George Martin.

As previously reported, the four-film event will tell the story of each band member through separate films from their individual perspectives. According to Adam Pally, who plays Allen Klein, the films will function as both standalone stories and part of a larger narrative. Together, they’ll cover the band’s meteoric rise in the 1960s through to their eventual breakup in 1970.

Schwartz will reprise his role as Sonic in next year’s Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and will play a role in Cameron Diaz’s Netflix film Bad Day.

James Norton has also been cast as the Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein. The film marks the first time that Apple Corps Ltd. and the Beatles have given a feature film full music rights to their library.

The four Beatles movies star Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harrison Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. The rest of the cast includes Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, and Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey. The film has also added David Morrissey, Leanne Best, Bobby Schofield, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, Arthur Darvill, and Adam Pally.

The movies are being directed by Sam Mendes, from a script written by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Jack Thorne. Mendes, Pippa Harris, Julie Pastor, and Alexandra Derbyshire are producing the film.

The Beatles movies are scheduled to be released in April 2028.
