White House Responds to Viral Donald Trump’s ‘Sleeping’ Video

The White House was left with no option but to address the string of viral videos of Donald Trump sleeping. They dismissed the claims, pointing to a moment when the president’s eyes were clearly open. These comments come after Trump continued to be repeatedly trolled after being caught dozing off during several important meetings and events.

The White House took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to the viral videos alleging that Trump was sleeping, sparking debate online. The account reposted a specific video that questioned whether the White House would continue to claim that the president hadn’t dozed off but was blinking. The Rapid Response team lashed out at the allegations.

They wrote, “His eyes are literally open in the clip you posted, you dumbass mouth-breathers.” The repost was a response to the video posted by the same account. The outlet wrote, “Trump appears to be completely passed out asleep during his 3 pm Oval Office announcement.”

In the footage, Trump was seated a bit sideways in the chair during the Oval Office meeting. He also announced investing massively in the US coal industry. He seemed to have his eyes closed initially, which many viewed as sleeping, before opening his eyes and maintaining a straight face.

Earlier, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was confronted by Democrat Congressman Ted Lieu over Trump’s sleeping. Lieu asked him if he had been in more than one meeting where the president had fallen asleep. Debunking the claims, Rubio responded, “That’s false. That’s false. I’ve never seen him fall asleep. On the contrary, the guy doesn’t sleep, which is a big problem, because he calls me at 2 in the morning, he calls me at 5 in the morning, and you know, I like to sleep a little bit—maybe not 12 hours—but at least six… I don’t know what you’re talking about” (via The Daily Beast).
