Prince Harry is reportedly not pleased with Meghan Markle’s Instagram post celebrating Princess Lilibet’s fifth birthday.
A royal expert said that the move may be seen as “clickbait” and is in contradiction with their fierce protection of their children from public scrutiny.
A royal insider shares that Prince Harry might be internally seething over Meghan Markle’s recent birthday post featuring Lilibet
A recent post by the Duchess of Sussex, revealing two snapshots including Princess Lilibet, may spark public speculation about whether Prince Harry is on board with the decision to expose his daughter to the limelight.
Prince Harry’s concerns about privacy are deeply rooted in the fate of his mother, Princess Diana, whose life was relentlessly scrutinized by the media before she died in a Paris car crash while being pursued by paparazzi in 1997.
The prince has given numerous indications in his memoir ‘Spare’ and subsequent interviews that he wants his children to have a different upbringing to what he endured as a kid. Referring to his mother’s tragic death, the father-of-two has been heard saying, “My deepest fear is history repeating itself.”
Interestingly, his wife, Meghan Markle, has also been vocal about the dangers of social media. In fact, one of the reasons cited for the couple’s relinquishing their royal duties in 2020 was the need for privacy and control over the narrative around them.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe has predicted that the shift in narrative may indicate a difference of opinion between the couple and may also have left the prince seething with anger. He said, “I’m sure her accusers will say she’s exploiting (the children). Lecturing about children’s privacy but then posting her own children as clickbait.”
The post may be interpreted as a serious breach of the couple’s united stand in preserving their children from media intrusion.
