As of today, King Charles continues to undergo treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer. He first announced the diagnosis in February 2024. Meanwhile, Kate, Princess of Wales, publicly announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024. Kate’s form of cancer has also remained undisclosed. She reportedly finished her treatment in December 2024.

At Tuesday’s event, Kate and Charles met researchers, clinicians, volunteers, and others involved in Cancer Research U.K.’s prevention, diagnosis, and treatment plans. King Charles has been a patron of Cancer Research U.K. since 2024.

The King and the Queen also viewed visual representations of how technological innovation is transforming cancer research at the event.

Cancer Research U.K. is one of the largest charities that researches over 200 types of cancer and has helped transform how the disease is understood and treated over the years. The efforts by the organization have reportedly contributed to doubling cancer survival rates in the United Kingdom. As of now, eight out of ten people who receive drugs for cancer receive drugs that are developed by or with the organization.
