Several months after his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office and ties to Jeffrey Epstein, ex-Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has found himself under investigation again. A new report suggests that this is for his alleged inappropriate behavior towards a woman many years ago at the Royal Ascot.
Police are investigating Ex-Prince Andrew over ‘inappropriate behavior’ with woman, claims report
A new report suggests that ex-Prince Andrew is under investigation for acting inappropriately towards a woman at Royal Ascot many years ago.
The Times shared that this incident reportedly occurred between June 18 and 22, 2002, during the racing festival in Berkshire. Andrew attended the event with his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, other senior royals, his brother, King Charles III, and his daughter, Princess Beatrice. However, it’s unclear if the police received the allegation at the time or recently.
Thames Valley police detectives are reportedly looking into this allegation as part of their broader investigation into Andrew’s misconduct in public office.
A few months ago, on his 60th birthday, February 19, law enforcement arrested the former British royal at his new home on the Sandringham estate, Norfolk. This was sparked by suspicion that he forwarded confidential information to Jeffrey Epstein during his time as a government trade envoy. He reportedly remained in custody for 11 hours before authorities released him under investigation. Notably, Andrew has categorically denied any wrongdoing numerous times.
According to The Times, investigators are reportedly going through a list of key witnesses to build evidence about Andrew’s stint as trade envoy. This includes former cabinet ministers, royal officials, and senior civil servants.
Andrew is no stranger to facing allegations of assault. Virginia Giuffre, an American-Australian advocate for sexual assault survivors who died by suicide last year, reportedly accused the disgraced former prince of assaulting her three separate times when she was 17.
She alleged that one of the assaults took place in 2001 at the London home of Epstein’s ex-girlfriend, convicted child sex offender and former socialite, Ghislaine Maxwell. Andrew has denied the accusations. However, he settled the lawsuit by paying a £12 million ($16.1 million) settlement with no admission of liability.
