Chyler Leigh opens up on splitting with husband Nathan West
Chyler Leigh recently broke her silence about separating from Nathan West. The couple had spent more than two decades together as husband and wife. Leigh opened up about the situation during a recent interview.
She spoke while appearing on the Books That Changed My Life podcast. The conversation came up when host Chris Collins asked Leigh about a moment in life that pushed her to finally ask for help. According to EW, Leigh said their relationship had simply reached a point where holding on no longer made sense anymore.
She said, “I think getting to a point where my relationship with my ex had reached a point where it was just time. It was time to let it go. Even after such a long time. We’d been together… it would be 26 years this year?”
Even with the separation, Leigh explained that she and West remain on good terms. They are also raising their children, Noah Wilde, Taelyn Leigh, and Anniston Kae, together. Over time, they realized they wanted different things in life.
“It just hit a point where it was like, ‘Okay, what you want and what I want aren’t really lining up anymore,’. And I’d rather us be on good terms and us not harbor the resentment and the anger… all that stuff. It’s not worth it.”
Leigh admitted the tension in the relationship had become noticeable to them over time. Their children and family members also started noticing the changes. She explained that it slowly affected the mood around them.
During the conversation, Leigh reflected on the trauma both she and West experienced within their families while growing up. She explained that they eventually realized they were continuing unhealthy cycles without fully meaning too.
That realization pushed them toward making a difficult decision for the future. Leigh and West first met back in 1999 during an audition for a WB pilot. The pair later married in 2002 and welcomed three children together.
Despite the split, she and West continue to support their family together.
