Taylor Swift now has another impressive career achievement ahead of her highly anticipated wedding with Travis Kelce. The pop star, who is already perhaps the foremost name in the industry, has been nominated for eight major awards at the American Music Awards. She is also the most celebrated artist in the history of the award.

Taylor Swift leads 2026 American Music Awards with nominations

As the world buzzes on with the anticipation surrounding Taylor Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s upcoming wedding, the pop star has added another major career achievement to her wall of fame.

Taylor Swift has been nominated for eight categories in the 2026 American Music Awards, the highest number of nominations for any artist in the contest. Swift also has the highest number of wins with 40 trophies in the past awards.

This year, Swift has bagged nominations (via Deadline) for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (The Life of a Showgirl), Song of the Year (The Fate of Ophelia), Best Music Video (The Fate of Ophelia), Song of the Summer (“Elizabeth Taylor”), Best Female Pop Artist, Best Pop Song (The Fate of Ophelia) and Best Pop Album (The Life of a Showgirl).

The nominees for the 2026 American Music Awards were announced on Tuesday. Olivia Dean and Sombr are among the artists who have been nominated for the first time. Moreover, Alex Warren, BigXthaPlug, Katseye, Leon Thomas, PinkPantheress, Raye, Role Model, Sienna Spiro, and Tate McRae are other first-time nominees.

Taylor Swift will face off against Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, BTS, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, and Sabrina Carpenter for the Best Actor category.

The 2026 American Music Awards will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2026. Queen Latifah is set to host the award this year. Fans will be able to catch the awards on CBS and Paramount+.
