Cillian Murphy’s Peaky Blinders Prop Got Him in Trouble at Airport

Cillian Murphy recently shared a hilarious story about how a Peaky Blinders prop got him in trouble at the airport. The Academy Award-winning actor put his peaked cap back on to bring Tommy Shelby to life once again in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Rebecca Ferguson stars as identical twins, Kaulo and Zelda, in the film. It is currently in theaters and will premiere on Netflix on March 20.

It is no secret that actors often take props from the set of their projects. Cillian Murphy is no different. In fact, he took the smallest possible prop from the set of “Peaky Blinders.” During a conversation with co-star Rebecca Ferguson as part of the film’s promo tour, he revealed that a stolen prop bullet once got him into trouble at the airport.

When Ferguson asked if Murphy had stolen, or “liberated,” as she put it, anything from the set, he replied, “I have one of the bullets that I tried to bring through airport security. It caused an incident.” The Swedish star inquired if the bullet had his name on it. Murphy replied, “It said ‘Tommy’ on it, yeah.” He revealed that the security at the airport allowed him to take the bullet with him. Upon hearing this, Ferguson quipped, “That’s a celebrity for you. ‘Keep the bullet, Cillian.'”

Recalling the chaos at the airport, Murphy said, “They were like, all these guys descended with guns and everything. It was at the bottom of my bag, and I went ‘Oh f*ck, oh sh*t, I’m so sorry! It’s not a real bullet.'” Ferguson asked him if it was a blank. “It was one of those shells that just said ‘Tommy’ on it. I said ‘Honestly, you can take it, I just want to make the plane.’ That was a fun day. I made the flight,” Murphy replied.
