Chelsea Handler Calls RFK Jr.’s $6 Million LA Mansion ‘F***ed Up’ & ‘Toxic’

Chelsea Handler is speaking out about what she describes as a frustrating and unexpected home-buying experience. The comedian recently claimed that a Los Angeles mansion she purchased from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Hines, in 2021 turned out to be far from move-in ready. While the home came with a multimillion-dollar price tag and the promise of renovations, Handler alleged the reality was much different. Years after the purchase, she said she still hasn’t been able to settle into the property.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. left $6 million LA mansion ‘f***ed up and unlivable, says Chelsea Handler

During a recent episode of her “Dear Chelsea” podcast, Chelsea Handler alleged that the home she purchased from RFK Jr. and his wife, actor Cheryl Hines, was in extremely poor condition. “I still have not lived in this house,” she said, claiming the property was “f***ed up” and unlivable when inspections were completed.

Handler explained that the $5.9 million Brentwood mansion, a large property built in the 1930s, initially appeared to have been renovated. According to her account, she was told that “everything’s been redone.” However, the podcast host claimed that serious problems only surfaced late in the inspection process. “In the last week of inspection, they came in,” she said, suggesting the full extent of the damage wasn’t immediately clear.

The comedian further alleged that contractors described the house as a “toxic environment.” She claimed she was warned it could take years before the home would be safe to live in. “I’m not exaggerating any of this,” the “Chelsea Lately” star added.

One of the issues Handler claims to have encountered was an outdoor structure that inspectors allegedly flagged as illegal. She suggested that removing additions made during Kennedy’s ownership has added to the ongoing complications. Handler also made a pointed remark about Kennedy’s public role in the podcast. She said, “The idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country when he didn’t even have a proper foundation at his house.”

Despite the frustrations, Handler said she received a friendly note from Hines after the sale, offering help if needed. The comedian joked about the gesture, saying she would have preferred assistance with fixing the foundation instead. While expressing frustration, Handler also tried to downplay any lingering resentment, joking that she was “totally over it.” Still, her comments suggested the experience has been far from smooth.
