ABC’s 9-1-1 Spin-off Adds General Hospital Alum in New Role

A familiar face from daytime television is making a return to ABC in a new primetime project. Following his exit from General Hospital, the actor has secured a new role at ABC. He will appear in the network’s latest expansion of the 9-1-1 franchise.

Evan Hofer joins ABC’s 9-1-1: Nashville spin-off

Evan Hofer is set to appear on ABC’s 9-1-1: Nashville in a guest role, airing Thursday, February 26, at 9:00 p.m. ET. The actor announced the appearance on Instagram, sharing a photo beside a promotional display for the series and writing, “Watch 9-1-1: Nashville Thursday Night? Love, E.”

The episode will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.

Daytime audiences know Evan Hofer for playing Dex Heller on General Hospital, a role he began in May 2022. Dex partnered with Michael Corinthos, then portrayed by Chad Duell, in an attempt to bring down Sonny Corinthos, played by Maurice Benard. During his time on the series, Dex fell in love with Josslyn, portrayed by Eden McCoy, joined the police force, and Cyrus, played by Jeff Kober, killed him in December 2024.

ABC premiered 9-1-1: Nashville in 2025 as the second spinoff of the 9-1-1 franchise, focusing on emergency responders in Nashville. The series stars Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz, and Hunter McVey. The February 26 episode, titled “Don Begins,” uses flashbacks to show how a devastating house fire changed the life of O’Donnell’s character, firefighter Captain Don Hart.

The episode also shows how Don met his ex-girlfriend, Dixie, and his current wife, Blythe. Meanwhile, Station 113 of the Nashville Fire Department races to rescue a cyclist pinned to a tree after a car strikes him. Producers have not disclosed details about Hofer’s role.

The guest cast also features Hunter King, formerly of The Young and the Restless, appearing in flashbacks as a younger version of Capshaw’s character, Blythe, opposite Ben Winchell as Don.
