According to a new rumor, Superman may have a sizable role in the upcoming Supergirl movie and not just a cameo. The rumor reportedly reveals how many scenes in the upcoming film the new Man of Steel will appear in. David Corenswet’s optimistic Kryptonian, who will next lead 2027’s Man of Tomorrow, was confirmed to be in the film two months ago.
Superman’s scenes rumored for Supergirl
A new rumor suggests that David Corenswet’s Superman will have three scenes in Supergirl.
The rumor comes from scooper AxelTalksFilm, who claimed that those three scenes will be crucial to Kara Zor-El’s character development. Fellow scooper, Cryptic HD QUALITY, has also claimed this is true, but suggested that he would only physically appear once.
Supergirl lead Milly Alcock confirmed that Superman will appear in the film in a December 2025 interview with GamesRadar+. Speaking to the outlet, the Sirens star said that her scene with Corenswet’s hero was one of the film’s toughest scenes to shoot. She added that she wasn’t wearing her Supergirl suit for the scene and that she was speaking a different language.
“Yeah, that day was really hard, it was, like, two degrees,” she stated. “He jumped right in the deep end. Yeah, that was a hard day. The whole scene was in Kryptonian. The whole scene was, yeah… Yeah, Kryptonian.”
Recent reports suggest that Supergirl has fared well in its second test screening and that the responses are positive.
Supergirl is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 26, 2026. Craig Gillespie, known for films like I, Tonya and Cruella, directed the film from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.
The film’s story is based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic book series, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. It follows the title character as ashe celebrates her 23rd birthday with her dog, Krypto. While traveling across the galaxy, she meets a young girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, who enlists her help in avenging her father’s murder. Consequently, Supergirl finds herself facing an assortment of foes, including Krem of the Yellow Hills and Lobo.
In addition to Alcock and Corenswet, Supergirl stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, Jason Momoa, Ferdinand Kingsley, and Diarmaid Murtagh.
