Schitt’s Creek Cast, SNL Remember Catherine O’Hara Post Death

After the untimely death of the legendary actress Catherine O’Hara, her Schitt’s Creek co-stars and Saturday Night Live (SNL) paid tribute to her. O’Hara died on Saturday, January 30, 2026, due to dextrocardia with situs inversus, a rare condition that flipped the position of her heart and other internal organs.

Schitt’s Creek cast honors Catherine O’Hara

Catherine O’Hara portrayed Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek throughout its run of six seasons. Eugene Levy, who played her husband Johnny, issued an official statement. He said, “Words seem inadequate to express the loss I feel today. I had the honor of knowing and working with the great Catherine O’Hara for over 50 years.” He later added, “I will miss her. My heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke, and the entire O’Hara family (via Entertainment Weekly).”

Dan Levy played the role of her son, David, on the show. He posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, with two photos from his time with O’Hara. The post was accompanied by a caption that said, “What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O’Hara’s brilliance for all those years.”

He continued, “Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family. It’s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her.”

Annie Murphy, who played Alexis, also took to Instagram, where she posted two photos and a list of points that she learn from the Home Alone actress while filming the show.

Murphy captioned it, “Ha-ha-HAAAA?!?! Her laugh was a perpetual Yes, And… It challenged anyone who heard it to join in, and be as delighted as she was. Gosh, were we ever lucky to have her. #goodbyetoagreatactress?”

She also commented on the post, saying, “The sunglasses are because I’m in mourning, David!” This line is a direct callback to a scene from the show.

During the closing moments of its last week’s episode, SNL honored the veteran with a simple and subtle tribute card. They later posted the image on X.

The Studio actress was briefly a part of the SNL cast in 1980, but quit after just one week without appearing in any episodes. She left to rejoin her Canadian sketch show SCTV, which NBC had renewed for another season. However, she later returned as a guest host twice in 1991 and 1992.
