Sydney Sweeney discusses SYRN
Sydney Sweeney has opened up about the thinking behind her newly launched intimate clothing brand, SYRN.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, the actor said the project gives her a new way to connect with her audience. “I want to show women that we can take back our power and fully free ourselves,” she said. She added that the label is built around personal freedom, explaining, “I want SYRN to stand for the power of choice.” During the interview, Sweeney responded to the question, “Whose gaze are you prioritizing?”
She said, “People will say, ‘Oh, she’s doing this for guys’ or ‘Oh, she’s a guy’s girl.’ But I’m like, ‘What is more girl’s girl than owning your body and doing it for yourself.’” She continued, “I want it to be their choice—the choice of the wearer—whether this is for them, for somebody else, or for a camera lens.”
Sweeney stressed that inclusivity played an important role in building the brand. She noted that the brand was built by an all-female design team. Furthermore, it features models representing a wide range of body types. The Euphoria actor also explained that her own early experiences influenced the shaping of the brand.
Sweeney recalled buying her first intimate apparel at a young age, saying, “I literally wore it to the point that it had holes in it.” According to her, that memory shaped her goal of creating lingerie women can rely on over time. Addressing how the project connects to her public image, Sweeney said, “This is me reclaiming my body and my narrative.”
