Paul Dano talks about Quentin Tarantino dissing him
Paul Dano has finally broken his silence on Quentin Tarantino’s recent explosive comment about him. The Kill Bill director recently made headlines after dissing Dano’s performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s award-winning 2007 film There Will Be Blood, calling the actor the “weakest fucking actor in SAG.”
The comment sparked outrage among fans and fellow celebrities, who publicly came to Dano’s defense, bashing Tarantino across all social media platforms.
Dano was recently asked about the controversial remark ahead of a 20th anniversary screening of Little Miss Sunshine at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. However, before he could answer, his co-star Toni Collette came to his defense, saying, “Are we really going there? F*** that guy! He must’ve been high… it was just confusing. Who does that?”
Addressing the matter for the first time, the Dano proceeded to say, “That was really nice.” The Golden Globe-nominated actor added, “I was also incredibly grateful that the world spoke up for me so I didn’t have to.”
Little Miss Sunshine directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris joined in to support Dano, calling Tarantino’s comment an “embarrassment.” Dayton added, “I can only think that his rawness of his performance made Tarantino uncomfortable. He couldn’t be easily filed.”
Faris chimed in, highlighting the outpouring of support that Dano received after the remark. She said, “You know what was interesting was the people coming out to defend Paul. There was immediately… he is loved by so many. He is so smart.” (via Variety)
Other celebrities who have supported Paul Dano include Daniel Day-Lewis, Ben Stiller, Simu Liu, Reese Witherspoon, and more.
