Homelander Actor Antony Starr’s Next TV Show After The Boys Revealed

As his era as Homelander in Prime Video’s The Boys approaches its explosive ending, Antony Starr is already locking in his next major role. The fan-favorite actor is set to headline a new Netflix drama series.

Antony Starr to lead the cast of the Netflix series Breakers

Starr will star as Brando, the charismatic but mysterious leader of a surfing community in the upcoming Netflix show Breakers. The drama follows two American backpackers traveling in Australia who become drawn into Brando’s seemingly idyllic world, a premise that promises sun, surf, and underlying tension. The series, originally known under the working title Red Bluff, is Starr’s first major television commitment following the announcement of the final season of The Boys.

While Starr is the first and only cast member officially announced, the project boasts a strong creative pedigree. He executive produces alongside Jackson and Clerkenwell’s Gavin O’Grady, Petra Fried, and Wim De Greef. Breakers is also different as the first Netflix series to shoot in Western Australia, supported by local government incentives.

The show comes from writer and executive producer Pete Jackson (Somewhere Boy) and is produced by BBC Studios’ Clerkenwell Films, the team behind acclaimed series like Baby Reindeer and The End of the F**king World. The directors attached are Mary Nighy (Industry) and Ng Choon Ping (Femme). Clerkenwell Films is producing in partnership with BBC Studios Productions Australia, with principal photography currently underway in Western Australia (via Netflix).

Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the series, stating only that “the Breakers wave will crash onto Netflix sometime soon.” For Antony Starr, the project kicks off a busy period; he will soon be seen reprising his role as Homelander when The Boys Season 5 premieres on April 8, and he recently wrapped filming on the Andy Warhol biopic Samo Lives for Neon.
