Donald Trump Attended CFP Championship For a Reason

President Donald Trump attended the 2026 College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship game between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Miami Hurricanes on January 19, 2026. Many did not see this appearance coming, but there may be a particular reason why the President was interested in this game.

Donald Trump was spotted at CFP Championship

President Donald Trump was a rare addition to the 2026 College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship game between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Miami Hurricanes on January 19, 2026. The game took place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Trump traveled from Mar-a-Lago in Marine One to reach the game.

Trump found himself amidst mixed responses from the fans at the stadium. There were many who booed the President, especially during the National Anthem. However, there were also loud cheers for the President.

Daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner, and granddaughter Kai Trump joined Trump.

Donald Trump attended the event as part of his Martin Luther King Jr. Day routine. But there could be a more specific reason.

It seems that Trump does have a connection with the Hurricanes. His granddaughter, Kai Trump, recently signed to play for the women’s golf team at Miami during the early signing period. Kai Trump made her LPGA debut in November 2025.

This makes Trump’s appearance at the game more plausible.

However, this is hardly the first time that Trump has visited a CFP game. He attended twice before. Trump attended the 2018 Alabama vs. Georgia game and the 2020 Clemson vs. LSU game before. Moreover, Trump has attended as many as 12 college football games as president, president-elect, or presidential nominee.

This comes shortly after Trump hosted the American Humane Society’s 15th Annual Hero Dog Awards Gala at his Mar-a-Lago Club, which has garnered a lot of attention, and not entirely in a positive sense.
