NFL insider on how Chiefs can benefit from Travis Kelce

ESPN writer Nate Taylor has given his thoughts on what the Kansas City Chiefs’ “one secondary priority to watch” in the future. In a recent article, he detailed how the franchise can benefit from Travis Kelce’s return in the upcoming season.

“Convince tight end Travis Kelce to return. The odds might not be in the Chiefs’ favor, but he is still productive and someone Patrick Mahomes trusts over any other pass catcher,” Taylor wrote. “A reasonable one-year contract could lead to Kelce returning to the roster for Mahomes’ return following his recovery from a left knee injury,” he added.

Kelce’s highly anticipated decision regarding his potential retirement continues to loom over the NFL community. The star tight end has yet to announce whether he will hang up his cleats before the new season commences. Most recently, Kelce gave an update on when he might make this decision during the January 7 episode of the New Heights podcast.

Speaking with his brother and co-host Jason Kelce, Travis said that he plans on “just being a regular human for a couple weeks, maybe a month or so, trying to figure out what I’m gonna do next in terms of my future in football.”

The Chiefs star continued, “And I think, you know, I’ve talked to a few people in the facility already, you know, having the exit meetings and everything, and they know where I stand at least right now.”

However, Kelce remained hopeful, adding, “At the same time, if my body can heal up and rest up and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18, 20, 21-week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat.”
