The Die My Love star recently addressed the speculations that she was up for the role of Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

During a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, host Josh Horowitz noted that Quentin Tarantino wanted Jennifer Lawrence for the movie. To this, she confirmed, “He did,” before adding, “And then everybody is like she’s not pretty enough to play Sharon Tate. And then they didn’t.”

This prompted the audience to audibly gasp, leading Lawrence to say, “I know.” When Horowitz voiced his skepticism, the Academy Award winner elaborated, “I am pretty sure it is true. Or it’s that thing where I’ve been telling this story this way for so long that I believe it. No, but I’m pretty sure that happened. Or, he just never was considering me for the part, and the internet just went out of their way to call me ugly.”

After Josh Horowitz sarcastically claimed that he knew the internet and that it would never do such a thing, Lawrence replied wryly, “No, those sweetie pies?”

Set in 1969, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood revolves around a nearly washed-up actor and his stunt double against the backdrop of the days leading up to the real-life Tate murders. The ensemble cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Timothy Olyphant, Al Pacino, Austin Butler, and Rafał Zawierucha.

In the same interview, Jennifer Lawrence confirmed that she turned down the offer to play Daisy Domergue in Tarantino’s 2015 movie The Hateful Eight. ‘I should not have done that,” she stated. Jennifer Jason Leigh ultimately portrayed the character and received an Academy Award nod for her performance.
