During her recent appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Chelsea Handler expressed her opinion on Timothée Chalamet’s Marty Supreme press tour.

The host, Amanda Hirsch, asked Handler whether she thinks Chalamet took the press tour “too seriously.” The comedian agreed and added, “He seemed pretty serious about winning and getting acknowledged for his great acting. Listen, he’s a great actor, but it’s hard to hear someone talk about how great they are at acting.”

Hirsch then went on to recall Leonardo DiCaprio’s recent press tours, noting that it was her personal benchmark on how actors should promote their movies. Calling him “golden star,” she said, “Leo wouldn’t say that even though it took him so long to win, right? He didn’t win anything until that wrestling with the bear movie,” referring to DiCaprio’s 2015 Oscar-winning role in The Revenant.

This Means War actress replied, “Leo wouldn’t do that. Leo is a movie star.” She then circled back to Chalamet and said, “I mean, that’s new. I haven’t heard any actor kind of talk like that.” Hirsch pointed out, “Unless he was being method, which people are speculating. That would be the only excuse for me if it was that.”

Handler and Hirsch are not the only ones to criticize how the Dune star is handling the press tour. The 30-year-old actor has received a lot of backlash online for his unapologetic statements, in which he has often praised his own work. In a recent interview, he said, “This is probably my best performance. And it’s been like seven-eight years that I feel like I’ve been handing in really, really committed, top-of-the-line performances.”

He added, “It’s important to say it out loud because the discipline and the work ethic I’m bringing to these things, I don’t want people to take it for granted. I don’t want to take it for granted. This is really some top-level s***.”
