It Ends With Us Writer Colleen Hoover Shares Cancer Diagnosis

Colleen Hoover, author of It Ends With Us, recently responded to speculation about her health. The bestselling writer confirmed her cancer diagnosis and shared new details about her treatment and recovery.

Colleen Hoover confirms she has been diagnosed with cancer

Colleen Hoover revealed her cancer diagnosis in December via a private Facebook post. She wrote, “I found out I had cancer” after returning from filming Reminders of Him in Canada. She stated that doctors had removed the cancer through surgery and that she would undergo radiation, but not chemotherapy.

On January 12, 2026, Hoover posted an update via Instagram Stories saying, “Second to last day of radiation. I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @Texas.Oncology, but they’ve been great. Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them.” She did not disclose the type of cancer but shared that it was not related to family genetics, HPV, or excessive hormones.

In a follow-up post, Hoover wrote, “I got results back today from the geneticist that say my cancer did not come from family genes. It also didn’t come from the two main causes of the cancer, which are HPV and excessive hormones.” She added, “This means it was more than likely environmental/lifestyle, which is lack of exercise, poor diet and stress.”

Hoover initially alluded to a health setback in October 2025, writing, “I’m super bummed, but am having an unavoidable surgery and can’t travel for a while.” This led to her missing the Regretting You premiere and other scheduled appearances. “So while it felt huge and scary for a bit… I just wasn’t ready to share with anyone until I knew what the outcome would be,” she later explained.

Colleen Hoover will release her new novel, Woman Down, on January 13, 2026. Hoover stated she hasn’t scheduled a tour, saying, “I’m not saying I won’t be up to doing at least one signing, but I just won’t know until I know.”
