New report claims Prime Video’s God of War series has potentially found its Baldur and Thor
Noted industry insider Daniel RPK shared on Patreon that Max Parker and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson are reportedly in talks to play Baldur and Thor in Prime Video’s God of War TV show, respectively.
Parker is known for playing Sergeant Sullivan in Boots and Mikhail Tanner in Vampire Academy. Ólafsson, on the other hand, is known for his work in Severance, The Deep, The Minister, and Lady Dynamite.
Jeremy Davies, best known for his work in FX’s Justified, played Baldur in 2018’s God of War. He serves as the main antagonist of the game, hunting down Kratos and Atreus for his father, Odin.
It is later revealed that his mother, Freya, fearing his possible death, cast an invulnerability spell on him. The spell made him impervious to harm but also deprived him of all sensation. Driven insane by his inability to feel pain or pleasure, he swore revenge on her. However, Kratos kills him before he can kill Freya.
Meanwhile, Sons of Anarchy star Ryan Hurst played Thor in the sequel God of War: Ragnarök. Serving as his father Odin’s enforcer, he seeks revenge on Kratos and Atreus for killing his sons, Magni and Modi, in the previous game. He battles Kratos twice, but the latter convinces Thor to stand down by telling him to be better for his daughter, Thrud. However, Odin kills Thor when he refuses the former’s order to kill Kratos.
God of War recently received a two-season order. Ronald D. Moore will serve as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Meanwhile, Frederick E.O. Toye, who worked on Shōgun, will direct the first two episodes.
Other executive producers include Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, and Roy Lee. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, Ben McGinnis, and Jeff Ketcham serve as co-executive producers.
