Becky Lynch On ‘Disappointment’ Over Charlotte Flair’s Role At Summerslam, What The Event Means To Her

Becky Lynch spoke with Nick Schwartz for USA Today’s For The Win ahead of Summerslam; you can read a few highlights below:

Becky on her reaction to Charlotte being added to the title match at Summerslam: 

“To be honest it was a disappointment, because when she was gone I really feel like I worked my way through the roster, beat everybody I possibly could, and then she shows up…. It really felt like it was going to be my moment and my time to shine. Her being in the match, yes it’s great and great for her, and it’s always great to share the ring, but you know, I wanted that to myself.”

Becky comments on how she’s preparing for Summerslam: 

“My diet kind of always keeps very consistent and on track. As far as training it’s always just amping it up. You always amp it up, especially when you have that motivation of something big being around the corner, and then the intensity goes through the roof.

And what’s really good is, I [train] CrossFit, but there’s a group of us, we do these little competitions around different times. We do them around Survivor Series, and we do them around WrestleMania, and then of course we do them around SummerSlam. So I’m in that with Seth Rollins and Cesaro and Noam Dar and Bayley and Sasha, so we all kind of compete against each other in these really tough, intense workouts. And I feel like that really helps coming up to the pay-per-views.”

Becky comments on what Summerslam means to her: 

“It feels like the culmination of everything that I’ve worked for. Starting with the women’s revolution, which three years ago we had that three-on-three-on-three match, and that was our first major pay-per-view. To be able to come from that, I did not do anything last year – I remember sitting in the back being so upset. Having worked as hard as I possibly could last year and feeling like nothing had really happened and I didn’t get any benefit from it. From that to this, being in there again with Carmella and then my best friend, knowing that I have a lot to prove. I feel like it’s a big moment.”
