‘The Queen Of Soul’ Aretha Franklin Passes Away At 76, What Were Her Ties To Wrestling?

WrestleZone is saddened to learn that legendary singer and Motown icon, Aretha Franklin, passed away today at the age of 76 after battling pancreatic cancer which was confirmed by her niece Sabrina Owens. “The Queen Of Soul” was put in hospice care at her home a few days ago.

Franklin indeed had her wrestling ties as she sang “America The Beautiful” at WrestleMania III & WrestleMania 23. WWE had the following statement to share on the late, great “Queen Of Soul”:

WWE is saddened to learn that legendary singer and songwriter Aretha Franklin has passed away. The multi-time Grammy Award winner performed a rousing rendition of “America the Beautiful” at WrestleMania III and again at WrestleMania 23. WWE extends its condolences to her family, friends and fans.
