After about a month at a slow pace, both RAW and SmackDown Live took the entrance ramp onto the fast lane to SummerSlam this week. Both shows offered a ton of clarity as the card went from one confirmed match to six matches set with both men’s and women’s world title bouts booked.

The announcement of WWE Evolution for the end of October was awesome to see and it will be an excellent show. Women don’t NEED their own card to show off their skills anymore — they have stolen the show plenty — but this is going to be historic and will certainly draw eyes to the depth of talent currently in the WWE. After 20 years of three or four fantastic performers carrying the division at a time, they are finally in a place where they have 20+ ultra-talented ladies.

It is a great time for the WWE in this regard and they have done fairly well with it. This event will come with plenty of fanfare … and will likely live up to the hype.

With less than a month until SummerSlam, SmackDown Live definitely won the week again. It was an entertaining show from beginning to end. The Miz and Daniel Bryan have started taking their feud to the next level and hopefully these two are given enough time to work at SummerSlam because fans have been waiting for this for a long time. Miz and Bryan could easily bring the house down.

With a little creative booking, WWE could have this match at SummerSlam and work back to the feud for a fantastic conclusion at WrestleMania with the WWE Championship on the line. Both competitors have earned it and both would not disappoint in a SummerSlam to WrestleMania storyline.

SmackDown Live also had another villain join The Miz in the top tier as Randy Orton is in full on Viper mode and it is fantastic. He was in classic heel mode in his promo, where the 13-time world champion expressed his frustration at being taken for granted. The best move for him at SummerSlam is going to be him, Shinsuke Nakamura and Jeff Hardy in a triple threat for the United States Championship. Orton does not need the win to move right into a feud with someone else, and could easily be a fall player in the WWE Championship mix.
