On This Day: John Cena Selects Daniel Bryan As SummerSlam Opponent
On this day five years ago, John Cena selected Daniel Bryan to face him for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. This kickstarted Bryan’s rise towards the top of the card, with his match at the biggest party of the summer coinciding with Triple H & Randy Orton’s heel turns. Bryan, as we know, went on to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 30.
