The Rock Says He Doesn’t See A Presidential Run In 2020 Happening, Says Black Adam Is ‘Coming Along’, Reveals His Favorite Action Films

The Rock spoke with Variety while promoting his new movie Skyscraper; you can read a few transcribed highlights below:

The Rock gives an update on Black Adam:

Black Adam is coming along; the script is coming along, I’m very happy with it. That’s a project that obviously you want to take your time. I think it’s a very exciting time right now at DC because there’s some rejiggering going on, some reconfiguring going on. There’s looking at the ‘macro’ map of the DC Universe, and I know those guys are working diligently at DC and Warner Brothers—working closely with our producers—to see how Black Adam unfolds in the universe. I’m excited about it and it’s coming along, it’s being written.

What are his favorite action movies?

One of my favorite action movies that comes to mind is Bullitt with Steve McQueen. [My favorite] action-comedy would be Every Which Way But Loose. There are a lot of Clint Eastwood movies, Die Hard —this movie is an homage to Die Hard and what Bruce [Willis] didit certainly made him the biggest star in the world at the time.

The Rock comments on stunt work:

I try and do as many of my own stunts as I possibly can do, but if there’s anything that gets really hairy or a potential to go really sideways, I got a great stunt double. He’s my cousin, we’ve worked together for years. He’s broken many bones and torn many ligaments in the spirit of doing a great job for the movie.

I come from a very physical world. Before I started acting I was in professional wrestling which is like a big chereographed dance. I couldn’t afford, at that time, a stunt double—not that I had to pay for them— there aren’t any stunt doubles in wrestling. I was taking the falls myself, so I come from that action world with stunts and hits, and I always enjoy it.
