It’s 20 years since the Mankind [vs] Undertaker Hell In A Cell, and I was the referee for that. It’s unfair, and I’ll tell you—they call me from the studios and ask ‘what were you feeling just then?’—it was 20 years ago, I can’t remember. I do remember this—I told them I was having a heart attack through the whole match. When I spoke to Mick [Foley] and [Undertaker], they told me the spots I needed to know, but I didn’t know they were going to do some of that stuff. When it broke down, I’m going ‘oh my God! Is he going to make it to the finish?’ Like what is going on, because you’re always communicating, and I’ll never forget, [Mick] went through the top of the cage after [Taker] had thrown him through the announce table, then he drops down through, and he’s crawling to the corner, and Taker climbs back down in the ring and he goes [to me] ‘see if he’s breathing.’ I get over to Foley, and his tooth is up through his nose, he’s bleeding from his eyes, his ears, everything.

You see if it wants to keep going, should I just stop [the match]? He looks up and goes ‘where are the tacks?’ They were left under the ring and I told him, and I’m doing my hocus pocus in the ring, Undertaker said ‘let’s take it home’. He couldn’t believe this guy had it in him. [Mick] dumped the tacks in the ring and made a move, and Taker reversed and Tombstoned him, and I think I pulled about 40 tacks out of my arm from counting the 1-2-3. I was so happy that everybody lived through that thing and it was over.

When [Taker] threw him off the top, I thought he was going to reverse or something, they’d keep playing on the top, they’d climb back down. When he through him off the top, down through the announce table, I had no idea that was coming. That’s when I almost threw up.
