WWE Smackdown Deal With FOX Reportedly Worth More Than $1 Billion In Total

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pending deal WWE has with FOX is worth more than $1 billion in total.

According to a source speaking with THR, the new deal would see WWE get $205 million per year, for a five-year deal for broadcast rights on the network. It was noted that this would mark a three-fold increase over what NBCUniversal currently pays WWE to broadcast SmackDown on USA Network. WWE was said to have an even higher bid from a third party, but WWE valued FOX’s commitment to promote Smackdown across their portfolio that includes NFL and Major League Baseball broadcasts.

FOX is also spending more than $3 billion for five years of NFL’s Thursday Night Football, and already pays more than $1 billion each year for the Sunday broadcast rights (runs through 2022) to NFL games. Smackdown is currently averaging 2.59 million viewers and it is the sixth biggest audience in cable programming.
