Kazuchika Okada Breaks Hiroshi Tanahashi’s Title Defense Record

At New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestling Dontaku event on 5/4, Kazuchika Okada defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event to retain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. This win marks Kazuchika Okada 12th successful title defense since winning the title in June of 2016, breaking Hiroshi Tanahashi’s record of 11 successful title defenses. Lions Gate Project 12 Set To Feature Debut Of Daisuke Sekimoto

The New Japan Young Lions are set for action on May 15th. Lion’s Gate Project 12 is set to air at 6am EDT on NJPWWorld.com. The show is set to feature the New Japan Pro Wrestling debut of Big Japan Wrestling’s Daisuke Sekimoto.

Minoru Suzuki Announces Opponent For 30th Anniversary

Minoru Suzuki will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of his pro-wrestling debut with a huge weekend of events in June. Suzuki announced that his opponent on 6/23 will be none other than current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada. Members of Suzuki-gun will also be wrestling at the event, and Suzuki will be debuting a 30th anniversary remix of his theme song, Kaze Ni Nare.
