As previously noted here on WrestleZone, WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar is on the cusp of breaking a major WWE World Championship record. If The Beast Incarnate doesn’t defend the Universal Title again until Money in the Bank, his reign will clock in at 441 days, officially surpassing the 434 day championship reign set by CM Punk, which currently sits as the longest WWE World Championship reign since Hulk Hogan‘s first WWE Title reign from 1984-1988.

Lesnar’s current reign as Universal Champion sits at 397 days and counting and began at last year’s WrestleMania when he soundly defeated Bill Goldberg.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize WWE has a vested interest in demoting CM Punk’s greatest WWE accomplishment. The chances of Punk returning to the company any time in the near future are about as good as Hogan’s chances of winning the WWE Title again. Or the chances of Roman Reigns getting over as a babyface, depending on who you ask.
