The following video features a behind-the-scenes look at AJ Styles’ day leading up to his WWE Championship defense in the Six Pack Challenge at WWE Fastlane. You can also read a few excerpts (transcription credit to Bill Pritchard for Wrestlezone.com) below:

Styles talks about how he prepared for his biggest test yet at WWE Fastlane:

Mentally preparing for this, it’s—well, I’d be a liar if I didn’t say I wasn’t worried. I mean, yeah, I’m confident, but there is a possibility that maybe I didn’t see that guy getting pinned, or maybe I’m too far away to stop it. There is the possibility that five other guys could jump on me and beat the crap out of me, and leave me for dead. I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen, but I am going to do anything and everything I can to stay WWE Champion.

Styles on what separates him from the rest of the field:

What separates me from everyone else in this match? Determination, the will to get back up when you’ve been knocked down. To go in there against five other guys and know who you are, what you stand for, and not forgetting where you came from. That’s what separates me from everybody else. I know what it’s like to be the underdog, and there’s no bigger underdog in this match than AJ Styles.

How do I prepare to go out for any match, including this one tonight? I clear my head, I walk onto that stage with my hood on, my eyes closed. Right before that big moment before I throw my hood off, you’ll see my lips moving. There’s a lot of prayers going on between God and I, and that’s helped me remember who I am, what I’m about, and what I’m about to do.
