Rich Swann Reportedly Backs Out Of Independent Shows; Vince McMahon Honors Mae Young On Her Birthday

Rich Swann Reportedly Backs Out Of Independent Shows

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann continues to be under scrutiny by fans, after taking to social media to state he would soon retire following his release from WWE and fulfill his independent bookings, only to not appear at events he was promoted for this past week. Pwinsider reported today that Swan was set to wrestle for MLW in Florida this past week, and was at the event but opted not appear for whatever reason. He also did not appear at events for CZW and House of Glory.

Swann according to today’s report is making the move due to online response to his return to wrestling following his releases from WWE last month in a move that the company stated “mutually agree” upon.

This was fallout from a December arrest for false imprisonment/kidnapping and a misdemeanor charge of battery- touching or striking. The alleged victim was Swann’s wife and independent wrestler Su Yung. At the time, WWE suspended the 205 live superstar under the company’s domestic violence policy. The charges against Swann were later dropped according to court records, citing “insufficient evidence” and his WWE release came just days later. Yung has consistently supported her husband online through the entire issue.

Yung continued this online support this weekend amid Swann’s cancelled appearances, and even Tweeted he was “no threat or harm to anyone”
