On This Day In 2011: Brock Lesnar Retires From MMA

Six years is a long time in professional sports, especially when it comes to someone like Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate seemed to be in the prime of his mixed martial arts career back in 2011, despite losing the UFC Heavyweight Championship, with many believing that he had a good chance of beating Alistair Overeem at UFC 141.

Unfortunately, that didn’t come to fruition, and the following day, Lesnar retired from MMA after making a promise to his wife Sable that he’d walk away if he lost. As we all know he eventually returned for UFC 200, but either way it’s fascinating to see just how far Lesnar has come since that night.
