The Jada Toys WWE Metals are not your typical action figures; in fact they’re die cast metal, which is very different than the typical plastic toy. You may have seen their other Metals at stores like Toys R Us and Target with their Suicide Squad, Superman and Batman ones, to name a few! Now they’ve entered the squared circle with their series 1 of WWE figures.

One thing I love about these is the animated style. They have that neat cartoon/comic book look to them, which I think makes them really cool. They’re not 100% made out of metal though, their bodies are but their arms and I believe the head are made of like a rubbery plastic. You cannot pose them other than their slight amount of articulation at their waist. Each figure stands 4” tall and comes with a display stand with the WWE logo on it. Each stand has a small peg on it to place their foot on if you decide you want to display them with a stand, but they stand just fine on their own.

Looking at their packaging they come in a unique shaped box, almost trapezoidal shaped, with a nice sized window so you can see them well. They also have an awesome grayscale ring backdrop, making them great for display in/out of the packaging. Looking at the back of the box you can see the first five figures in this set. Triple H is a 6” figure that seems to come with a WWE title as well. I do not have him in my possession yet but he will be releasing with Series 2 early 2017. There will I believe be one 6” figure per series so your 6” figures can go together as well. Series 2 is supposed to release early 2017 as well, I’m not sure who is in that lineup just yet but you can keep up with it on my figure Twitter @WWETNAfigures for more updates.

Anyway let’s take a look at my favorite of the set first, Finn Bálor! This figure is really detailed, probably the most detailed of the set. He has his awesome body paint on the front and back, as well as his headdress. He of course doesn’t have all the details on his boots and tights but you have to remember these aren’t going to be fully decked out WWE figures as they’re stylized. I believe there is an exclusive version of this figure coming to Toys R Us sometime soon. I’m sure he will be the first one to go from the set as he’s the coolest in the set, in my opinion, so keep an eye out! There will also be an exclusive version of Finn at Toys R Us as well so be sure to keep an eye out for that, too!

Next up is Paige. I feel they captured Paige’s personality well with her stance. She too has an articulated swivel joint at the waist. It’s nice they put the detail in her hair, her belt, her eye shadow and even the wrinkles in her tights, which is a nice touch considering these figures don’t have a ton of detail. Some people I’ve seen complain that she’s not pale enough, but I think they captured her look well. One thing you may notice about these is that their arms may be a slight shade different color than the body as the arms/head are made of rubber while the body is metal, so the paint may apply differently to each surface.

Looking at Lesnar, probably my second favorite in the set, I think they did a nice job capturing the look of him. Perhaps he’s not mean enough looking but it’s a fun caricature of him for sure. One complaint I have about this figure is his hairline. I don’t like you can see where the forehead separates from the hair. Other than that I think it’s pretty cool as he has all of his tattoos in nice detail. His shorts don’t have the sponsor logos as Jada Toys, much like Mattel, doesn’t have the rights to his sponsors nor wants to probably pay the royalties to do so to put them on his figures. They still captured the look of Lesnar quite well here, perhaps he should just be angrier. Still a very cool figure.

Last we’ll take a look at the figure you can’t see, John Cena! This figure reminds me a lot of the Celebrity Deathmatch characters from the old MTV clay-mated wrestling show if you ever watched that. His eyes and face just remind me of those characters, which makes it kind of fun in that sense. It’s nice Cena has his most recent gear, which makes the figure timely as you’ll see Mattel seems to be a little behind sometimes on Cena figures as his attire changes so often. I like they included all of his logos on his wristbands, armband and his hat as it just makes the figure pop. Even the painted knee pads under his jorts. If I had to find something to really nitpick I’d say his belt as there’s just a buckle there, otherwise I don’t really have many complaints with it. I’m not much of a Cena fan but this figure is pretty cool.

Honestly when I first saw these revealed at San Diego Comic Con I wasn’t sure how I felt. I thought they were cool but I wasn’t sure if they were something I’d collect. Once I had them in my hands I really liked them a lot. They’re really unique and are really cool display pieces. Kids can play with them even though you can’t pose them much, but for older collectors like myself I’d say they’d be awesome on a desk at work or even in your room. Whether you open them or not their packaging even is great for display. Perhaps we’ll see accessories and playsets for them, such as a ring or a stage, later down the line? We shall see but in the meantime keep an eye out for these at all major retailers and at RingsideCollectibles.com!

Be sure to check out all the photos below for a more in-depth look at each of them. Remember you can keep up with me on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for more figure news and videos! Thanks and I’ll see you guys next week!
