Backstage News on Kota Ibushi and a Top Lucha Underground Star Possibly Signing with WWE, Potential Creative Plans for Ibushi and More

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Kota Ibushi appearaning on camera at NXT Takeover Dallas last night indicated that he has agreed to a deal with WWE/NXT, but that is not officially confirmed.

Meltzer added it’s likely Ibushi will be brought in for more than the just the WWE Global Cruiserweight Series airing on the Network.

With regards to Ricochet, who wrestles as Prince Puma in Lucha Underground, Meltzer said we should know within in a week whether or not he is headed to WWE. Ricochet, who is an IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Champion along with Matt Sydal, will soon be defending the titles against Roppongi Vice.

As for Ricochet’s Lucha Underground status, he has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave after the third season of the show airs. At the last set of Lucha Underground TV tapings, Ricochet was booked in a way that would make it very easy for Lucha Underground to write him off TV.

Inspiration in his life has come from many people including his family, Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg, Jack Nicholson, The Beatles, and of course, Lassie.
