Ric Flair noted on a recent episode of his WOOOO! Nation podcast that one of the hurdles in getting his ESPN documentary started was WWE signing off on the use of footage from their video library.

It was previously reported that ESPN is profiling Flair for a new “30 For 30” special, which he said will be a full-length documentary covering his personal and professional life. ESPN typical edits the shows to run between 1-2 hours with limited breaks, but has also produced a number of web ‘shorts’, including one about the Von Erich family.

Flair said eventhough it took approximately a year and a half to get the project going, they already have nearly six hours of footage filmed, with more to complete. It was also noted that ESPN will be on hand to film Flair and other WWE talent at the Survivor Series pay-per-view, and we could see interviews with Vince McMahon and the Undertaker given the “high-profile” nature of the documentary.
