Backstage News on How the Smackdown Move to USA Might Impact WWE Storylines, Expectations for SD! Ratings & More

smackdownAs noted, WWE Smackdown will be moving from Syfy to the USA Network in quarter one of 2016.

While the move from Friday nights to Thursday nights on Syfy did not yield the exact results WWE was looking for, the move to the USA Network should significantly help the show.

One factor which should help the Smackdown ratings/interest overall is WWE doing more Monday to Thursday story lines, which would see an angle setup on Raw and then blown off on Smackdown. Continuity between Raw and Smackdown is something that’s been missing ever since the show moved to Friday nights years ago and the brand split was in effect.

To help kick off the move to Smackdown, it’s also likely Smackdown will not be treated like the “B” show when it first moves to USA, and will feature top WWE stars each week for a certain period of time.

As far as that last bit goes, we have seen the idea of loading a new show up with top talent in its first month or so, but then over time the show ends up deteriorating into a “B” or “C” product. Let’s hope WWE treats Smackdown like an “A” show each and every week once it moves to USA.
