WRESTLEZONE RECAP

–Your Sunday Paper for Pro Wrestling News–

Sunday, November 23, 2014

WWE SURVIVOR SERIES is tonight, live from the Scott Trade Center in St. Louis, Missouri for the 28th incarnation of the annual event. The Authority will put their power in the hands of Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, United States Champion Rusev and new Intercontinental Champion Luke Harper, as they face off against John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Ryback and the reborn Erick Rowan.

Wrestlezone will have complete coverage of tonight’s event beginning with the return of Bad News Barrett on the online-only WWE Network pre-show.

Less than 24 hours prior to the show, breaking news came out that not one, but three major surprise names are backstage in St. Louis, and are being considered for on-screen segments at Survivor Series, which will be free to new subscribers for the first time in history.

Last week on WWE Raw, Sheamus was unceremoniously dumped through a table by the “World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry. It appears that his removal from Team Cena, and loss of the U.S. title were in fact a real-life response to legitimate injuries plaguing Sheamus. The decision to replace him with Erick Rowan was made at the last minute.

It was rumored – albeit for the third time this year – that Divas Champion AJ Lee would be leaving the company after tonight’s PPV. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is denying any truth to these rumors.

Brock Lesnar, Dana WhiteWWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar will find himself unemployed after next year’s WrestleMania PPV, unless he comes to terms on a new deal with the company. However, UFC President Dana White noted that his relationship with the former MMA ratings titan is strong, and that Brock is interested in a return to the octagon after his recent stint in pro wrestling comes to an end.

Given that the 2015 Royal Rumble PPV is in Philadelphia this year – dubbed the “birthplace of extreme” – WWE is working on bringing in a few ECW originals as surprise entrants into the 30-man match.
