WWE Confirms SummerSlam for NY/NJ Area in 2015; Are They Looking to Expand the PPV to a WrestleMania Arena?

It was reported this weekend that WWE was looking to move SummerSlam out of Los Angles for the first time in six years, starting with the 2015 event. Late last night, WWE posted the following video on YouTube, confirming that the 2015 SummerSlam PPV will be coming to the New York and New Jersey area.

KILLAM: There hasn’t been an official confirmation on exactly where WWE is looking to host the event, and that may very well be because they’re still working things out with the cities. Generally when they run Madison Square Garden they promote only the New York area, and promote the New Jersey area when they run the Izod Center. The only time in recent memory that WWE advertised the entire multi-state metropolitan area was for WrestleMania 29, which was held at the massive MetLife Stadium in front of over 80,000 people. If WWE is trying to turn SummerSlam into a major spectacle, this could explain the vagueness in their announcement, and why they need to start working a year in advance to make it happen.

WWE will be on the East coast in September with live events in White Plains, NY and two shows in New Jersey, so if a deal is in place by then, it will likely be announced to the attendees.
