WWE Announcers Labeled “Disingenuous” When Promoting the Network
According to the Figure Four Weekly Newsletter, there is a feeling by some backstage in WWE that the announce team comes off as “disingenuous” when plugging the WWE Network as being “like Netflix, but better.”
WWE’s initial tag line for the Network was “like Netflix for WWE, but better,” but the company decided to get rid of the WWE part as the company feels the live stream and on-demand library combo is a really big deal.
WWE talents are said to be big fans of Netflix, as it’s a convenient and easy way for them to watch television when they’re on the road.
Paglino: Can you really blame the announce team for sounding “disingenuous”? They have to plug the Network about 50 times per show. Sounding genuinely sincere about something you’re shoving down people’s throats every week is a tough task for anyone.
