More Details on the WWE Referee Not Knowing the Finish to Undertaker vs Lesnar at WrestleMania

Undertaker vs lesnarAs we reported last week, WWE referee Chad Patton was said to be unaware of the Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar match finish at WrestleMania 30 prior to the bout.

According to The Wrestling Observer, there is a feeling in WWE, however, that the referee might have been tipped off to the match finish at some point during the bout.

Patton was told prior to the match to make a three count, as if the match were a shoot, anytime either wrestler's shoulders were pinned to the mat. The only exception to this mandate was in the case of The Undertaker's Hell's Gate submission hold. The ref was told not to initiate a count even if 'Taker's shoulders were down during the maneuver.

If you recall, Undertaker similarly lost a match to Kurt Angle back at No Way Out in 2006 when he had the Hell's Gate applied to Angle, however his shoulders were pinned down by Angle and the ref made the three count.
