Update: The Very Latest on Who Knew About the Streak Ending, Whose Decision it Was, and More on Undertaker’s Future

undertakerAccording to The Wrestling Observer, WWE referee Chad Patton did not know The Undertaker would be losing to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30. He was actually told Undertaker would be winning the match, but every WWE referee is told no matter what, even if a wrestler does not kick out as planned, continue the count. This does not mean, however, that 'Taker was supposed to win, but rather WWE opted not to tell the ref the actual outcome. After the match, Lesnar reportedly whispered "thank you" to Undertaker.

The decision to end the streak was reportedly finalized on March 31st, and as we reported only a select few people knew of the finish, and they were likely to be Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, Vince McMahon, Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Even the agents were unaware of the match finish as the script for the show did not list a finish for that match, as well as a few others.

It remains unknown at this time whether or not The Undertaker is truly finished with WWE, but Vince was working under the impression that WrestleMania 30 was 'Taker's last match, and he felt it would be better for The Dead Man to bow out with a loss rather than a win.

As far as whose decision it was, that remains unclear as well, as some sources claim Vince talked Undertaker into taking the loss, and others maintain Vince did not have to talk him into it, he suggested the loss and 'Taker agreed without protest. There were, of course, many in WWE who were unhappy with the Streak ending the way it did, but could not say so publicly.
