WWE Main Event Results (3/4): Detroit, MI – Daniel Bryan vs. Kane, The Usos Defend Tag Team Championships; Vote on New Review Format

[…Cont]

Back from a very short commercial break, and Kane is once again in control of his opponent. He locks in a backbreaker stretch, but Bryan kicks him in the head to break it up. Bryan comes off the top rope, but gets caught with a massive uppercut for a two-count. Back into the rest hold.

As Bryan breaks free of a side headlock, the two begin trading right hands and elbows, barely staying on their feet. Bryan goes into a headlock of his own, but uses the ropes to hit a tilt-the-whirl DDT. He does a backflip off the top rope and dropkicks Kane over the top rope, sending him down to the floor. He goes suicide dive, and both men are down on the outside.

The referee gets to a count of six, but both guys slowly roll back into the ring. Daniel Bryan hits a missile dropkick from the top rope, but only gets a count of two. He kicks away at Kane's chest, but gets caught with a sidewalk slam. The big man now heads to the top turnbuckle, connecting with his signature lariat. Kane looks for the chokeslam, but catches a kick on the ear and goes down hard. Daniel Bryan hits a diving headbutt from the top, but only gets two!

Both men are weary now, again trading blows which of course ends up in favor of Kane. He begins choking Bryan in the ropes but the referee forces him to break the hold. Kane with a giant DDT for a two-count, which enrages the Director of Operations. He starts to clothesline Bryan over and over, but when he goes for the chokeslam, Daniel Bryan rolls through and stacks up Kane for a surprise pinfall.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

Mike's Thoughts: Incredibly solid opening match that probably could have been the main event of any Raw or Smackdown. Heck, I would have enjoyed it as a midcard PPV match. They let these former partners go nearly 20 minutes, with only one very short commercial break, which was a breath of fresh air. The WWE Network really let this match have a PPV quality feel to it. Considering Kane and Daniel Bryan never really had a big blow-off match after Team Hell No split up, this was an extra special treat.
