In his anticipated in-ring return, Batista won the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble match and will be going on to WrestleMania to face Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Batista entered the Rumble at #28 and eliminated Erick Rowan, Ryback and Alberto del Rio, before finally eliminating Roman Reigns to win the match.
While Batista was sure to be a fan-favorite upon his return, the Pittsburgh crowd quickly turned on "The Animal" when they realized Daniel Bryan would not be en entrant in the Royal Rumble match. Lifetime babyface Rey Mysterio also received a negative reaction, as did the last several minutes of the match as a whole. WWE actually had to turn the crowd volume down, and increase Batista's music as the PPV went off the air, as the local fans were not happy about Bryan being snubbed from the match.
